Seminar Policies and Procedures
Students may register for the seminar for credit and receive a grade for the seminar, or they may audit a seminar for no credit with a $5.00 non-refundable audit fee. Due to the high cost of hiring attorneys to teach seminars, students are encouraged to only register for seminars for credit if they are certain they will attend. If a student registers for a seminar for credit and decides not to attend after the registration deadline, he/she will receive a WF for that seminar. However, if a student would like to change his/her seminar status to audit after initially registering for a credit, the student must submit a written request to do so and pay a $10 non-refundable fee. There are no excused absences at BRC. *Please see BRC attendance policy for attendance regulations.
Non-Credit Continuing Legal Education Seminars
Those employed in a law office and graduates of BRC may attend non-credit continuing legal education seminars at no cost. Seminars for non-enrolled graduates will count as continuing legal education credits and therefore cannot be used toward any certificate, diploma, and degree.
In order to earn credits toward any certificate, diploma and degree, the person must be enrolled in six (6) or more semester credit hours at BRC.
Seminars may be canceled at any time if less than five people are enrolled. In such circumstances, students and/or grads may take the seminar in another location, if available. If the student/grad decides to take a seminar in an alternate location, he/she must complete new registration indicating the new site location.
Seminars are also offered to Law Office Support Staff, who may register using the methods mentioned above.
The cost of attending a seminar pre-scheduled by BRC is $145 for the first person who registers from a law office. Each additional person from the same office is then $75. However, if the person registering is a student enrolled at any public or private Louisiana University, they may take the seminar for only $30. Students from other schools may contact BRC’s Administrative office for consideration.
Seminars may be canceled at any time if less than five people are enrolled. One-hundred percent (100%) refunds are made to law office staff if a seminar is cancelled.
